UNII Palettes - Worth the Price?

I received my parcel of UNII Palettes two days ago, and I like it instantly!

Basically UNII Palette is an empty palette where you can stick in refill pans or depotted pans of eyeshadows, blushes, etc. It works just like Z-palettes and M.A.C palettes, just that it comes in pretty pastel colored plastic that reminds me of Nintendo DS Lite.

Here's a comparison between the size of the UNII palette an a 9-pan Z-palette. I aligned the top edge of the Z-palette and the UNII palette, and you can see the pink of the Z-palette sticking out slightly from under the UNII palette.

I posted before about my MakeupGeek Eyeshadow singles in refill pans, the Z-palette, and DIY palette here. While I am so proud of myself for coming up with the idea of using a cardholder and cheap magnetic strips from Daiso to make a palette, I just can't get over the fact that all my MUG eyeshadows are separated. So when I found out about UNII palettes, I just had to order not one, but two.

I chose white and pink because these are my favorite colors.

They are really pretty and feel substantially heavy, like a real Nintendo DS Lite, which immediately makes me feel that my money is worthwhile. The quality of the plastic is very good.

The UNII palette has a width slightly smaller than the width of the 9-pan Z-palette such that I need to stagger the eyeshadows as in picture below, in order to fit in three rows of eyeshadows.

But the total magnetic area is still really big, and would easily fit 14 MUG or M.A.C size eyeshadows.

That little white flower there is actually a rubber grip, so that you have somewhere to press and hold on to, and the UNII palette wouldn't slip from your hand easily.

I am immensely in love with the huge mirror!

I am also impressed by UNII because they provide a big piece of magnet even though the base of the palette is already magnetic.

You can also see the click-lock from the photo above. It's not that kind where you have to use your nails to dig it open, which is just awesome!

I guess the slight drawback is the mirror doesn't open up 180 degrees, but only still about 135 degrees as you see in photo below. I personally prefer covers that open up wide so that I can bring the mirror closer to my eyes.

Given the size of this palette, and huge mirror, it will make a wonder one-for-all palette where you can put in about two blushes and 4 eyeshadows to create a totally-you palette to just slip in your purse for a party dinner!

Last but not least, I am not paid or compensated in any way to post about UNII palettes, but here's the link to their website, where you can purchase them very easily via Paypal.

Rating: 5/5.
Worth every penny, given the large mirror, high quality plastic, beautiful selection of colors, and excellent correspondence and shipping service. The only drawback would be the weight of this. A Z-palette is very much lighter and more compact. Also, because of the mirror, this does not has a see-through cover like the Z-palette.
Have you heard of UNII palettes before? Would you invest in a supreme quality empty palette to store your refill pans and depotted makeup? Or would you prefer DIY palettes, Z-palettes or M.A.C?
